Course Overview
Aims and Objectives: In particular, the student shall be able to:
- Describe how to effectively take and hand over a watch effectively
- Describe the responsibilities of a watch keeper
- Describe how to maintain safe engineering watch
- Demonstrate the operation of main & auxiliary machinery and associated control system
- Demonstrate the appropriate use of hand tools, machine tools and measuring instruments for fabrication and repair on board.
- Perform typical maintenance and repair of shipboard machinery and equipment.
- Perform typical fault detection and necessary measures to prevent damage
- Describe and perform operation of fuel, lubrication, ballast and other pumping and associated systems.
- Describe the basic configuration and operation principle of electrical, electronic and control equipment.
- Take over and hand over a watch
- Responsibilities of a watch keeper
