Course Overview

Aims and Objectives: Safe Log Lashing requires a good understanding of the cargo, the potential hazards of the various stages of operations from preparation of decks and equipment, chemical hazards, understanding of wood types and characteristics, to manual handling and communication, to the importance of daily lashing checks and finally offloading. It involves heavy manual handling on an uneven surface and therefore requires practice, for new crews, to fully evaluate the difficulties and hazards This course aims to allow personnel the experience of handling such materials, tools and experience the work on uneven surfaces. It will provide sufficient knowledge to ensure the seafarer can perform log lashing duties safely. Contents
